A Good Day

Every day is good, truly! But this morning was especially good. I woke up at 5am and went to spinning, I was very unmotivated and sluggish, but felt good when it was over. Anyway, I got ready as usual and Chip left early for an important meeting. This meant I got to take the kids to school. I rarely have this duty, as I am the “pick-up” person. Anyway, Chip made a wonderful breakfast for the kids prior to leaving…egg in a hole with a side of blueberries. All three of us sat at the little table and had really sweet conversation. Both kids took their plates and cups to the sink and proceeded to get dressed. Chace is obviously better at this task than Paige so he offered to help her with her shoes and was so sweet. Everything was just moving along smoothly and Chace told me that last night he prayed for his friends. I asked him what he meant and he said he prayed thank you for his sister and friends and of course mommy and daddy. Then he went to the side of the room, hidden from me, and said “Dear God thank you for mommy and daddy and Paige, Jennie and Dave, James and Rebecca, Mimi and Poppi, Omi and Pops, Harvey and my other friends from school”…then he caught my eye and got embarrassed so he stopped. He also told me that it’s ok to pray to God in the morning and at night. I told him he could pray anytime and that I’m sure God appreciated his thankfulness. I know I did!

Happy Birthday Paige!

I can’t believe you are 2 years old! We have enjoyed every minute of the last 2 years. You are such a gentle, sweet and loving girl. In the past few months you have really blossomed. After ear tubes in September your speech jumped ahead quickly and now you are talking in clear full sentences…there is never any doubt what you are saying. You love to read books with us and are always saying “Can you read this?”…I also love watching you play pretend with shopping, dolls, cooking etc. You also love to jump which is causing a problem with our new couch in the playroom since you love to jump on it and from it onto the floor. You also love your brother Chace and are trying to be like him. I am glad that most of the time he is being a good example for you!

Right when you turned two you switched into a toddler bed from your crib…it was an easy transition. You also gave up your pacifier the week prior. We simply said you were a big girl and you said ok! You are also already 90% potty trained! We have to make you go to the potty every hour or so but you totally have the idea down…and you love to do things by yourself which is pretty helpful for me and daddy.


I’m sure I could go on and on. I love your face, your smile, your hair, your voice, your toes, your nose, your hugs, your kisses, your laugh, all of you!!

November and December

Well, it happened. November and December, that is! What a fun and busy couple of months we just completed. I printed 250+ pictures from my camera today! There is almost too much to talk about but here are the definite highlights…



Chace completed his first soccer season. The team did not win any of their games but winning really wasn’t the point. They did seem to learn to not wrestle with each other and to not pick up the ball. They all had fun and were super cute!

The weekend before Thanksgiving we posed for the family pictures on the header of the blog. We spent the night before at the farm and the kids had a little slumber party and Chace enjoyed riding in the jeep with pops - he's using his police helmet as head protection!

Thanksgiving was nice and relaxing at our house with the Boswell clan, Jill and Dave and Papa.

 OMG it snowed in Houston in on December 4th!! I mean really big, soft flakes that stuck for a few hours. By the time we got home that afternoon the snow was too wet for us to make a snowman but the neighbors had one on display!

We attended the Annual Epiphany Santa Lunch with Jill and Dave...

Chace made Rice Crispy Treats, he really likes to help cook!

Chace also fell asleep several times on our old comfy couch.

Christmas Day was wonderful! I think it’s the first time in 4 years that I was not feeling sleep deprived and made it through the day feeling rested. The kids were thrilled to receive a backyard swingset build by daddy. Santa brought Chace a digital camera of his own and Paige a Mrs. Potato Head set among other great things. The other big hits were Chace’s storm trooper costume and tent, Paige’s little people pricess set and leap frog tag reader. Chip and I did well too in the gift category but the best gift of all was the day itself with family all together, relaxed, healthy and happy!

 

To top it all off Chip, Chace and I went to see the Nutcracker Ballet. Chace’s school had been reading the book and he wanted to see the real thing. He even agreed to wear his fancy clothes. He really enjoyed the big kid experience and we left at intermissions since most of the fight scenes were over.

All in all, a great couple of months that's for sure!
